Hello Everyone!
Hope everyone had a great week. I want to say a big thank you to everyone for all the visits to this site in the past couple weeks and all the people that have written me emails also. This week’s free dulcimer hymn arrangement is "Softly and Tenderly." The story of this hymn began when the writer Will Thompson was visiting the dying evangelist D.L. Moody as he laid on his death bed. Moody took Thompson by the hand and said “Will, I would rather have written “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling” than anything I have been able to do in my whole life.” With those words Thompson began to write this hymn.
This hymn had a very powerful impact in the last century by being sung in the 1985 Academy Award winning movie "Trip to Bountiful", and was also sung at a memorial service for Martin Luther King on April 8, 1968. I hope you all enjoy this hymn and like last week, if you click "Duet" a second "harmony” part can be downloaded also. Hope to see you all next week.
God bless,
Ben
