Hello Everyone,
I apoligize for the large interval of time since my last post (summer can get busy). This hymn was a request from some one at everythingdulcimer.com. It's a great hymn written in 1864 by an american poet and the pastor of the Hanson Place Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York; Robert Lowry. In July of 1864, Robert Lowry found himself exausted from all the funerals held at him church because of the civil war. While standing by a river began to think about the "river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing out from the throne of God,” which was depicted in the Book of Revelation, chapter 22. With this vision in mind, Robert began writting "Shall we gather at the river." I hope you all enjoy this hymn arrangement and I'll see you again next week!
-Ben
